Description
Caregivers, personal care aides, or companions, commonly referred to as Personal Attendants, play a vital role in assisting individuals who are elderly, mentally disabled, chronically ill, physically challenged, hospice patients, or patients undergoing recovery. These dedicated professionals can be found working in clients’ homes, residential or hospice facilities, or senior care centers. They may have multiple clients to attend to in a day or be assigned to a specific client. While the shifts can vary, it is common for personal care aides to work during nights, weekends, and holidays. Throughout their shifts, attendants may be required to transport patients, communicate with other members of the treatment team, or perform a wide range of non-technical clinical tasks. As a result, personal attendants must possess adaptability, physical strength, efficiency, an exceptional patient care and interpersonal skills.
